20th October – Surprise 50th birthday party in Knapwell
Wow, what a night!! A V.I.P entrance, a glass of kir royal on arrival and that was before the birthday girl had even arrived!
A cocktail menu James Bond would be proud of was at the ready as guests made their way into the bar area. On the menu was:
White rum mojitos,
And a special cocktail for non drinkers a Lemon daisy.
All the guests were hidden as the birthday girl arrived. As she made her entrance she was greeted with party poppers and confetti and then the party really got into full swing!
While everyone was enjoying the cocktails we circulated with canapes of:
-Mini cheeseburgers with tomato relish
-Traditional stripy bags of popcorn with a variety of flavours, sweet, salty, chilli
-Scampi and chips in paper cones
-Duck breast with marinated cherry and fois gras toast
-Arrancini with cucumber and chilli dressing served in a bamboo boat
A few more cocktails later and we set out a delicious buffet of:
King prawn and asian slaw rice paper rolls (cold)
Beef rump teriake skewers with sesame seeds (warm)
Aubergine and chickpea tagine served with pita bread (hot)
Fillet of salmon poached in coconut milk with courgette and fennel salad (cold)
Spiced fillet of red Snapper cooked with star anise and lime and chilli salsa (warm)
Racks of lamb cooked with a coriander and pine nut crust then sliced into single bone cutlets so can be eaten similar to a lamb lollipop. (warm)
Quinoa and fresh herb salad (cold)
Lightly spiced rice salad with spring onions and peas (warm)
Saute broccoli heads and stalks with chilli, garlic, almonds and a lemon and soy dressing
Desserts: Served with fresh whipped vanilla cream and strawberries
Fresh fruit salad served on platters
We then left the guests after they had eaten to carry on mixing their own cocktails and enjoying the rest of their evening.
A fun night for us as well as the guests!!
