A bit of imagination and lots of candle light transformed a recently flooded basement into a beautiful room fit for fine dining.

The guests started their evening enjoying a glass of champagne and canapes of:

Parma ham with olive and sun blush tomato on a balsamic crostini
Watermelon with feta cheese
Smoked salmon with caviar and creme fraiche on a beetroot blini

They then made their way down into the basement to enjoy a 4 course meal of:
Starter:
Celeriac soup with smoked bacon and nutmeg served with granary bread

Main course:
Rosemary roasted rack of lamb with pomme fondant, crushed peas, creamed leeks, glazed carrots and reduction sauce

Cheese:
Selection of Cheddar, Goats cheese, Brie and Cambridge blue with celery, biscuits and grapes

Dessert:
Trio of Treacle tart, chocolate brownie and lemon posset

Coffee:
Fresh Coffee served in cafetieres with chocolates.

After all this delicious food the birthday boy was treated to his favourite almond cake baked by one of the guests.

A lovely evening had by all and please see below for a testimonial from the birthday boys daughter

Tom provided a birthday meal for 8 in the centre of Cambridge for me, to celebrate an 85th birthday.

The quality of the ingredients and presentation of the food was excellent – and of course perfectly cooked. The meal was very professionally served by Emma.

I cannot recommend Tom enough. He coped with a last minute change form dining room to basement with no problem and Emma did an amazing job of decorating the basement with all our candles.

They are both fun and professional work with.
